Julie Whitlock Photography | Vendor Spotlight

Finding a photographer for your wedding is arguably one of the most important tasks of wedding planning. You want someone that can capture the beauty of your day, both the big and small moments, in a way that authentically reflects you and your love as a couple.

Julie Whitlock Photography takes true to life photos that keep a classic look that won't ever look outdated. Originally learning on film, her patience and attention to detail provides for stunning images you will want to hang all over your home.

We love working with Julie because she truly cares about providing you with a gallery that is not only a snapshot of your big day, but takes you back to those moments before, during and after you said "I do".

What do you love about being part of the weddings/events industry?
I love getting to work with couples of all shapes, sizes, orientations and cultures and the friendships I’ve made along the way. It’s a little corny, but each year I get to have my faith in love and happiness renewed. It’s pretty much a dream come true to get to make a living creating lasting memories of all the gorgeous an authentic moments I witness. It’s a huge honour to be trusted to create a couple’s first heirloom.

What sets you apart from other photographers?
Wow. That’s a big one haha! I guess just being me. I balance humour, a relaxed nature but also professionalism. I try to keep things light and easy for my couples and their family and friends. It’s my job to be both a fly on the wall and the best guide possible. Knowing when to fade in to the background and when to jump in and help with the experience I’ve gained over hundreds of weddings is crucial. I will sew you into a dress if need be!

I want my couples to see their final gallery and be both transported back in time to moments they remember and delighted in seeing moments they didn’t even know happened. The best compliment I can receive is when someone views my images and says it feels like they are right back there again or like they were there, if they weren’t. My goal is to craft a unique gallery for each client that reflects their personality and moments told through my eye.

I love collaborating with clients to get them every image they could possibly desire and also have the freedom to flex my creativity. I believe in giving my clients a well-rounded shoot. Real moments are very important to my clients but getting gorgeous details, relaxed but stunning portraits and classic family shots to cherish are all important! I graduated from the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design and learned on film and in a darkroom, so I know my art inside and out and I get to use that knowledge to make amazing images.

Which moments on a wedding day are your favourite to capture?
I’m a big fan of getting ready! The moments before the wedding are always filled with excitement and anticipation and let’s be honest...nerves! First looks with dads, reading notes and opening gifts, having a blast with your friends... it’s kind of like Christmas Eve to me! All the anticipation makes for wonderful emotive images. I’m a big fan of crying parents and those details! Love them!!

Who are your ideal clients? What can couples/guests/families do to help everyone have the best experience?
My ideal clients are laid back, a little dorky, people who want to have an honest portrayal of themselves and their wedding day.  They want to just give me full reins to capture whatever happens and use my creativity to make original work! The best thing you can do to have the best experience is to plan your day well and then just relax and trust your vendors. Little hiccups will happen during the day and most of the time no one will know the difference. The couples that are able to roll with it and go with the flow will have the best day. Make your timeline and your family photo list and hand them off to someone you trust to keep your day on track. The couple's job is just to be present and have fun!

What beverage (hot or cold) are you happiest to have in your hands?
I’m actually known for having about three drinks going at once. I’m a decaf queen haha. Plain ol’ Americano and Diet Pepsi...decaf of course!
